On July 23, 1931, the Lakeshore Lions were chartered, and the Lakeshore community gained a valuable institution that has continued to serve with great diligence. The contributions to this community would be impossible to document, and part of that reason is because the Club has never been in the business of documenting the business of helping those in need; it is the act of helping, not the recognition of helping that is the focus.

In 1951, Faustina Sports Club was the first minor hockey occupant of the Lakeshore Arena. The club was formed in 1935 by 8 men whose objective was to raise money for charitable purposes. Faustina currently have a house league consisting of 400+ children along with 13 Select teams from Tykes to Juveniles.

In 1953, Stafford Smythe, whose father Conn Smythe was one of hockey's elder statesmen and President of the Toronto Maple Leafs along with his good friend, well-known sportsman Jack Stafford Jr.and Ray Picard began plans to form a Humber Valley hockey team to play as Atoms in the Toronto Hockey League, the forerunner of the GTHL. The Humber Valley Hockey League was born. At the banquet ending the first season, the guest speaker was none other than retired Leaf goaltender Turk Broda...
